Levon has been coaching in the U.S. since 2000. Prior to this time, he was a world class gymnast. He was 4 times Armenian National Champion, 2 times USSR Champion and holds the prestigious award of Sports Master Title of Gymnastics, USSR. In addition, he won numerous International awards, and competed in the European and World Championships. In 1996, Levon moved to Brazil and continued to compete professionally. Between 1996 and 2000 Levon won numerous regional and national titles. Levon has been a judge, since 1993, and most recently judged at the 2006 World Championships in Aarhus, Denmark.
Levon began his coaching career in Armenia in 1995 at the Olympic School of Gymnastics of Grant Shahinyan. In Brazil he was head coach at a private club and produced a team that won numerous state and national titles. Since coming to the U.S., Levon has coached many state, regional and national caliber gymnasts. This also includes placing several athletes on the Junior National Team and Future Stars National Team. Many of his boys have gone to earn scholarships and compete at colleges such as Stanford, MIT, William & Mary, Penn State and Air Force. Levon has been the Boys Program Director at NESA since we opened in 2003.
