About program
At ‘Grand Slam Baseball and Softball Academy’ we stress sound fundamentals of the games that we all grew up loving to play. Every coach preaches that they will teach their students the fundamentals, but how many actually know how to coach them? ‘Grand Slam Baseball and Softball Clinics’ have varied methods for fielding grounders, shagging flys, throwing, pitching and, of course, hitting.

These methods have been proven to work on the field time and time again and, more importantly, they have been proven to work on kids of all ages. Baseball and softball are meant to be fun and nothing makes it more fun than when you have the confidence in your ability to play the game and play it the right way. Neither sport is easy to play. Give yourself the best chance to improve your game by signing up for ‘Grand Slam Baseball and Softball Clinics’.

'Grand Slam Baseball and Softball Academy' is very excited to announce that we have formed a U16 tournament softball team for the 2012 season!! And ... we are looking for players for a second team to compete in the U16 division in 2012!! If you are interested in being part of a very competitive, highly skilled tournament softball team, or know of someone who might be - please contact us

Grand Slam Baseball and Softball Academy

Grand Slam's coach Mike has been involved in coaching youth sports since 2006 when he began coaching softball in Dedham. That summer, he coached the Dedham U10 summer travel team to the Norfolk County Summer Softball League championship. His teams followed that up with a U12 championship in '08 and a U14 championship in '10 in the ultra-tough Hockomock Girls Summer Softball League.

Also in '08, Coach Mike began his youth baseball coaching career winning the Minor League Fall Ball championship in Dedham Youth Baseball.

Coach Mike's spring teams have won three consecutive Minor League championships in DYB (2009, 2010 and 2011) with a combined record of 53-8. He was also an assistant coach on the historic 'Dedham 9's' in 2010, which came in 3rd place in the Cal Ripken New England Championships.

In the summer of 2011, Coach Mike took over the helm of the Dedham 8-year-old summer travel team. That team won eleven straight games on their way to the Hockomock National Championship, before losing in the quarterfinals of the Friendship League championships – a tournament made up of 71 teams.

In 2009, Coach Mike was named the head coach of the Dedham Middle School softball team. The girls went 11-0 and scored an impressive 185 runs. The following year, DMS went 11-0-1 and set a school record, scoring 208 runs during the season.

Coach Mike left DMS in 2011 and took over the reigns for the Mount Alvernia High School varsity softball team. Despite being a young team with only one senior and just three juniors, MAHS missed qualifying for the State tournament by only one game.

Coach Mike has also coached a tournament softball team since 2010 and is very excited to begin his own Tournament Program beginning in 2012!!

Coach Mike has been the director of the baseball and softball program at NESA since 2009 and since then 'Grand Slam Baseball and Softball Academy' has continually placed players onto summer travel, High School and Middle School teams.
