Susie Cristiano and Julie Perryman were blown away when they first found Dramakids on the web as they were looking for teaching opportunities. They realized that this program makes an incredible and positive impact on children's lives and knew right away that they wanted to be a part of it!
Susie has a BA in Theater from Cal State Long Beach. When she realized that there was a need for arts education in the school system she went back to school to become a teacher. She has a Certification in Early Childhood Education and has been working with children for 16 years. She is THE "Miss Susie" in her town!
Julie has a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education. In her high school and college years she enjoyed being a camp counselor and working with children. The entrepreneur in her is very excited for this opportunity to focus on and grow the Drama Kids business in the Metro West region!
The Program:
Drama Kids classes help build creative thinking and literacy skills while also
teaching children positive social skills including effective team interaction, leadership, confidence, and public speaking.
The Difference is Dramatic!
For over 20 years, our acclaimed program has been helping children (5-8, 9-11, 12-18 years) to act confidently and speak clearly. Enthusiastic teachers and a dynamic learning environment motivate students to participate willingly and achieve their personal best, at all levels of development.
Kinder Kids (ages 4-5)
Our KinderKids program is an excellent way to introduce the long-term benefits of dramatic arts participation to children attending Pre-K, or Kindergarten. Each KinderKid student is highly involved in creative drama activities that develops speaking skills, builds confidence, and enhances early social skills and creative learning. Don't miss the fun!
Composite Class (ages 5-11)
- Creative movement – Demonstrate new physical skills each week and some creative dance dramas.
- Dialogue development – Work in pairs to develop short scenes, which are then performed for the teacher and class. Everyone participates fully!
- Speech training/verbal dynamics – Provide exercises in articulation, projection and forward placement.
- Structured whole class improvisations – Provide opportunities for students to perform plays with extended plot structure and to practice many skills, such as characterization, ad-libbing and memorization of exact key lines.
- Mini-Scripts – Allow students the opportunity to develop characters and work toward final class performance. No wallflowers! No background characters – everyone is a star!
