Program Description
The Dance Program at NESA provides dance training for both recreational and pre-professional students. The school offers training in ballet, pointe, jazz/musical theater, tap, modern, hip-hop, ballroom, character and other dance forms to give dancers the versatility they need in today’s dance companies. We provide opportunities for students to perform on a regular basis in order to develop artistic and performance skills while sharing their work with the community. All students are invited to perform in the year-end recital in June. We welcome everyone of any age and ability who enjoys dance and wishes to try a class. You are never too old to dance!
Program Benefits
Dancing is a highly physical activity, and kids who take dance lessons
regularly should
expect to see a significant improvement in their overall physical health.
Regular dance practice can increase your child's flexibility, jump, range of motion,
physical strength, agility and stamina. Ballet is increasingly used for cross-training in sports
such as gymnastics, figure skating, basketball, soccer, football, body building and martial arts.
The repetitive movements involved in dance can improve muscle tone, correct poor posture,
increase balance and coordination and improve overall cardiovascular health.
Dance lessons can help children improve their social and communication skills, learn how to
work as part of a team, develop a greater sense of trust and cooperation and make new friends.
Becoming a skilled dancer requires practice, discipline and focus. Dance students typically
tend to perform better academically, do better in math and science competitions, and achieve significantly higher SAT scores.
Most dance studios offer only recreational dance and do not provide sufficient quality ballet training needed for college and professional level dance. No matter what a child’s goals are- whether they are dancing just for fun or whether they are serious about dance, we believe that all children deserve to receive the kind of correct and safe training that will allow them to pursue their dreams in the future. For this reason, we hire only the highest quality of teachers for our classes and use only well proven curricula.
