Class Description
|
Jiu Jitsu loosely translates as "the science of softness" or "the gentle art" and
is applied to many schools of unarmed and hand-to-hand combat. Jiu Jitsu was the
primary unarmed combat method of the Samurai. The soft grappling style was intended
to help unarmed soldiers to fight against armed enemies in any way possible, using
the least amount of force necessary. Modern day Aikido, Judo, Brazilian Ju Jitsu
and MMA are all descendents of Jiu Jitsu.
American Jiu Jitsu specializes in practical and effective self-defense. Size and
flexibility are not important factors in achieving proficiency in this art since
Jiu Jitsu does not rely on brute strength. American Jiu Jitsu is designed to handle
attacks by applying pressure points to vital areas in order to cause intense but
non-damaging pain and thus destroy the attacker's will to continue. The aim of American
Jiu Jitsu technique is to neutralize, control and discourage an attackerwith techniques
that employ minimal strength yet generate maximum effect.
We aim to teach you how to defend yourself against modern day street attacks: that
includes hand to hand combat, effective striking, throwing (judo and aikido), weapon
defense (stick, knife and gun), multiple attack scenarios and ground assaults.

My son Cole (15) has been enrolled in the homeschool program on Tuesdays for 2 or 3 years now. He loves it! He takes gymnastics and parkour regularly and has taken science, math, and chess in the past. He also appreciates open gym! I also appreciate open gym because I usually get some exercise in while Cole is in class or playing. I also appreciate the parents and staff, who are friendly and interesting to talk to when I feel like socializing. I highly recommend NESA to everyone!
