Markus Potyranski Coach Potyranski is in his 8th year of coaching basketball. Markus brings high energy and enthusiasm to all classes and strives to get the most out of his students. Markus played for Cushing Academy’s Class A Varsity team, which competes among Massachusetts’ elite basketball schools. He also ran his own basketball program at Camp Agawam in Maine with a record of 7-1 for all age divisions in inter-camp play. Markus has been a key team member at NESA since we opened. Markus has a real gift for working with young people and motivating them to achieve their best.
Markus Potyranski Coach Walker is a graduate of Colchester High School in Colchester VT where she earned VT division 1 coaches All-Leauge 1st Team, VT Division 1 All-State 2nd Team, and VT- North South Senior All-Star Team. She went on to play basketball at Curry College where she was the team's starting point guard for 4 years, and captained the squad during her Junior and Senior Years. Her previous Coaching Experience include coaching a 6th grade AAU team for the VT Lightning organization as well as coaching at the Curry College basketball camps and the Taylor Coppenrath basketball camps. Sarah hopes to motivate her players to work hard while having fun, and to share her love for the game with others.
About the Program
The I.C.E Basketball program strives to provide an atmosphere where children aged 5 to 15 is given a chance to learn the game of basketball without pressure. Classes are conducted using positive reinforcement and encouragement. Fundamentals are the key to being a great basketball player, and that is stressed throughout all classes.
Class Description

Boys

Lil Dribblers (Ages 5 to 6)
Provides an introduction to the game of basketball. Students will learn how to dribble, shoot, pass, play defense and work with teammates. Students will be challenged through different games and obstacles on the court to help develop their fundamental skills and overall development.


Shooting Stars (Ages 7-8)
A fast paced, high intensity, fundamental building class. Students work on a variety of techniques such as spin moves, fast changes of direction, and jump stops. Students will also participate in fun drills and games such as 3 on 2, 2 on 1, circle transition, and the very popular “tummy game”. Students often are taken through obstacle courses and finish with a scrimmage at the end of class.


All Stars (Ages 9-11)
Is an intense drill based class. Students work on correct shooting form, speed dribbling, passing, rebounding and boxing out, opposite hands, and most importantly, defense. Students also participate in different drills and games such as 3 on 2, 2 on 1, Go Get It!, dribble knock out, and mid court scramble. Class finishes up with a scrimmage.


Future Rim Rocker (Ages 12-15)

This class was designed to help students develop more advanced dribbling, passing and defensive techniques. Students will work on dribbling skills such as two balls dribbling, through the legs and cross over attack moves. Tennis ball training is also incorporated to increase coordination skills. Students will also gain knowledge on defensive footwork and stealing techniques as well as behind the back passes and post entry passes.


1st Grade Training Team (Invitation)
This program was designed to give 1st graders the chance to play in scrimmages and work on team development. Players from this group will have an upper hand at making future ICE Basketball teams.


I.C.E. Basketball TEAM (invitation) Ages 9 and under / 11 and under
The U11 /U 9 Boys Basketball teams train twice a week to get ready for tournaments in the Spring season. This program is invitation only.

Girls

Blazing Stars (ages 7-8) Thursdays 5:30-6:30

Students will also participate in drills such as 3 on 2, 2 on 1, the weave, and the very popular "tummy game". Students will work hard and finish with a scrimmage at the end of class.


Sharp Shooters (ages 9-11) Tuesday 6:30- 7:30, Friday 3:30- 4:30
An intense drill based class. Students work on correct shooting form, speed dribbling, passing, rebounding, boxing out, and most importantly defense. Students will participate in drills and games such as 3 on 2, 2 on 1, dribble knock out, and mid court scramble. Classes will finish with a scrimmage.


Lady Hoopsters (ages 12-15) Tuesday 7:30-8:30, Friday 4:30-5:30
This class is designed to help students develop more advanced dribbling, passing and defensive techniques. Students will work on skills such as two ball dribbling, and through the legs, cross over attack moves. Tennis ball training is also incorporated to increase coordination skills. Students will gain knowledge on defensive footwork, post moves and post entry passes.
