Kayleigh Lucci, born and raised in Worcester, Massachusetts, has been dancing since the age of 3. Trained in ballet classes as a young girl, she quickly grew to embrace many different styles of dance, from jazz and lyrical to contemporary and hip hop. As a young adult, she joined Clark University’s Hip Hop Collabo, a hip hop dance crew. As a member of HHC, Kayleigh was fortunate enough to perform for the World of Dance Tour in New York City and audition for MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew.

She has taught dance for several years now at facilities in both Massachusetts and New York. Most recently, she has been active as the head of a newly formed dance crew named What the Funk?! Kayleigh’s love of dance runs deep and she continues to pursue her dream today.

Hip-Hop and Breakdancing

Hip-Hop and Breakdancing Hip Hop dance is a constantly evolving dance style born out of the urban culture of Bronx, New York in the late 1970s. Taking some stylings from jazz dance and adding some touches from free form funk stylings of dancers like James Brown, hip hop soon grew into its own unique technique through the creation and refinement of dance styles like bboying (breakdancing), popping, locking, krumping, etc. Today, hip hop is one of the most popular dance styles in the world, appearing in an enormous number of music videos, movies, and television shows. Hip hop dance continues to grow as an art form today and shows no signs of slowing down. From freestyle- or battle-oriented hip hop to L.A. Style or lyrical hip hop, there are various ways to interpret music through this dance style. Express yourself!
