Cornerstones of FBA
  • Safety
  • Athletic skills taught correctly
  • Develop athleticism
  • Age, weight and ability appropriate
  • Building self esteem
  • Appreciation of effort, competition and the history of the game
Designed to teach football in a fun, non threatening environment. Kids will learn all the necessary skills in proper sequence as they are also improving their athleticism. This is a program that will enhance, not diminish self esteem. Value will be placed on effort and improvement not genetic ability. Students will learn all about the game; its rules, techniques, strategies and history. To be a good player or even a fan you need to know both sides of the ball from all positions. A graduate from FBA will be aware of all aspects of the game. This program was created because of parents who requested a situation, where their children could explore the wonderful game of American Football without the yelling and intimidation that unfortunately accompanies too many youth sport programs. According to medical experts the rising numbers of youth sport injuries are caused by overzealous coaches, improper technique and impact (e.g. head against head) injuries. In this program the coaches are interested only in helping kids with improving their self confidence, athleticism, football skill and love of the game.
The World of Youth Sports
Research shows that often children who could become good athletes are excluded or discouraged at entry age because they are slow developers or because of body weight issues or believe it or not - town politics. Often parents hold their children out of contact sports because of fear that permanent damage could be done to children engaging in contact sports before or during puberty. These children who are held out fall behind skill-wise and are not part of the clique and therefore, unless they are extremely large, are not wanted by coaches of post adolescent athletes. Youth coaches sometimes make decisions that can possibly affect the rest of the child’s life.
