NESA Homeschool Enrichment Program is a unique combination of academic enrichment and kid’s fitness at one of the largest, most comprehensive youth sports facilities in the area. Our team of enthusiastic instructors comes to NESA with a passion for sharing their interests with kids who have a passion for satisfying their curiosity!! This program is designed to provide you and your family with an opportunity to stay active all-year long, a place to spend time with other homeschooling families and a variety of academic enrichment opportunities to build upon the foundation of each family’s unique homeschooling framework.

Recreational academic and fitness classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10:30am and 2:30pm for homeschooled kids of all ages. Classes are $60/month for 1 class/week. 10% off any additional kids and/or classes! Open gym will follow on both days from 12:30-2:30 – free to any family members of kids attending any home school enrichment classes! Open gym without Enrichment classes is $15/family/visit.

Classes include Sports Mix, Gymnastics, Chess, Math, Science and more, with many instructors that would like to offer lots of great opportunities for recreational academics, creative arts and more kids fitness. Classes we offer are shaped by the families that attend. This is a space to gather, hang out and keep moving as well as offer the kids some enrichment activities – things you may not get to do as part of your family’s homeschooling experience.

Class descriptions

Kinetic Study And Games With Scott

Explore the laws of nature and the universe with Scott Wilhelm, certified science teacher with years of experience. Students will engage in a series of hands on activities where they build their own tools and use them to explore the laws of physics and nature. Excellent as a stand-alone academic enrichment program, or we can support a child's endeavors in a specific academic goal.

Gymnastics

Gymnastics is a fun sport that encourages a child's natural ability to twist, turn, jump and bend. The benefit from instruction allows a child to discover their strength, flexibility and self confidence through conditioning, continued repetition and progressions.

As they master each skill, Melinda will introduce a new variation that challenges and develops self awareness. The result is a child who is in a self discovery mode that is unlimited. Gymnastics sets a child up for success in any sport and helps them to grow from the inside out. Our coach Melinda Rossi has a lifetime of coaching experience with pre-school through adults.

Sports Mix

This program will give the kids an opportunity to have fun learning about different sports while playing together under the direction of Coach Carlos. Each sport will be played for a month, so that all of the kids will have the opportunity to master basic skills, learn the rules and become comfortable playing the game. All ages and levels are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Chess

This course will cover the basic rules and skills of chess: how the pieces move, how to record games and positions, the relative values of the pieces, popular tactics (including forks, pins, skewers, discovered attacks) and fundamental strategy, and some frequently seen opening and endgame positions. Kids will get to play each other to test out what they have learned. There are additional opportunities for private tutoring. Taught by Nicholas Sterling.

Math Adventure

A recreational mathematics program for kids of all ages, designed to inspire them to love doing math. The adventure is all in the imagination! Kids play a role-playing game in which they fantasize a quest to find a lost treasure, nab a bad guy, slay a monster, or solve a mystery. If they do well with their math, they do well in the game, and eventually WIN!! Taught by Nicholas Sterling.

From Our Customers...

Ethan made a cardboard boomerang and played w/it in the gym. The science teacher explained science concepts as he worked. It was very hands-on which was right up Ethan's alley. Ethan also had soccer lessons with Carlos the sports coach who used to play professionally on the Portugal team! He taught him ball tricks and Ethan was smiling the whole time--this from a boy who hated town soccer! There were chess tables set up as well and Lisa is very open to suggestions for classes that people may be looking for, but it seems like what they have is a great start. My daughter didn't go, but can't wait to see what it's all about after talking to her brother!

The facility has open gym, a toddler/preschool gym, a real gymnastics gym w/ trampolines, foam pit (for landing in), trapeze bar (over the pit), high bars, rings, tumble tracks, spring floor, balance beams, etc. There's a mini indoor soccer field, basketball court, etc. There are rooms w/tables for eating, doing work in, or simply hanging out.

I'm excited to hang out w/other parents while my kids get some fresh learning from teachers who are a little less burnt out than me! Maybe we can start a book club or a knitting/craft circle of our own!
