NESA P.O.PS is a prep-opt gymnastics team program specifically designed for the NESA gymnasts
who want to compete, but want an alternate to the traditional J.O level system (1-10), and want
less of a time commitment. We use all the national rules for Prep Opt based on 5 levels of
competition, for ages 6-18 at meets and a stat meet with a minimum of 2 sanctioned meet attendances.
Rookie:
Basic 3 skills bar routine, rolls, cartwheels and roundoffs dominate. Similar to level 2-4
Novice:
Basic 5-7 skill bar routine, walkovers, handsprings dominate. Similar to level 4-6
Intermediate:
Medium level skills, including saltos and aerials. Similar to level 6-7
Advanced:
More complex skills including connected tumbling and giants on bars. Similar to level 8.
Superior:
Most advanced skills including tuck vaults, and twisting and tumbling. Similar to level 9-10. |

| Grouping for the 2009-2010 Season: |

Rookie (similar to level 3-4):
splits/bridge/pike within 4" and 20 sec. chin holds, legs at "L": pull over/cast back hip,
cartwheels and back roll, nominal b. extension roll, and a 7/8 handstand on beam, as well
as a 120 leap and jump for height. Dive-roll vault/straight rise, proper arm lift.
Novice (similar to level 5-6):
Splits/bridge/pike within 2” and 2 chin-ups/3 leg lifts, inverted hollow hold for 10 secs.
Kip, squat-on or sole circle to HB, counter swings hollow and held handstand on beam as well
as cartwheel or back walk-over. Floor: r-off 2-back-handspring tight, back tucks w/ light spot.
2 clean front tumbling skills connected. Leap to 160. Flat back and nominal handspring.
Intermediate (similar to level 7):
One spilt flat, other 2 within 2” and 4 chin-ups/5LL, inverted hollow hold for 20 seconds Kips
to cast horizontal front hip cast to horizontal free hip to 20, fly-away (layout or pike preferred).
Cast to ¾ handstand. Floor: front pass, layout, and mixed series, switch leap to 170, or side
or ring leap. Vault: Handspring 1/2 on up onto stack at vault height. Beam: walkover/skill
connected r-off or back handspring on low beam.
Advanced (similar to level 8):
All splits, pike and bridge flat, good Achilles flex. 8 chin-ups, 18 LL, 25 sec. inverted hold,
5 clean push away kips connected, cast handstand, strap bar giants, free hip to vertical
connected, giant to flyaway. Beam: r-off or back handspring, switch leap or ring, to jump, pike,
layout, or connected salto dismt. Floor: front pass with pike and lay, lay, and mixed salto pass.
arial/double timers straddle.wolf jump with 1/2 turn, and 1 1/2 turn, and a twisting vault.
Tsuk timer to stack/back.
Superior (similar to level 9):
All splits, pike, and bridge flat. Excellent Achilles flex. 10 chin ups, 20 LL, 30 sec. invert.
Bars: cast to handstand (3x), front/back giants, freehip/stalter on straps, free hip tp 70, and
2 giants flyaway layout/toe front dismount solecatch, pirouette. Beam: single skill (arial or b.tuck,
or fr. tuck mount.) skill to flight series, switch to jump, jump with 1/2 turn, 1 ½ turn,
connected salto dismount. Floor: back or front twist in tumbling mixed pass, double-back,
aerials in any direction or Arabian. |

I take my two grandsons to the Sunday Morning Play time to get exercise. Very nice Sunday morning out for the boys. Love this place.

Excellent. NESA works well for my family there are so many choices. I can have 3 of my kids participating in different programs at the same time.
