| Reading/Sci Fi |
In the first few sessions the students will practice basic reading to review and brush up on their skills. Once the students’ reading ability is established, themes of fantasy and SCI-FI will be brought to the classroom.
The introductory readings will be interspersed with word games that will test the students’ memory, attention to detail, puzzle-solving ability, and orthographic skills, as well as be just plain FUN.
Within four weeks the students will begin generating sci-fi and fantasy stories and adventures. Initially the focus will be on the students’ ability to create, brainstorm, outline story ideas and themes, and simply let the imagination run TOTALLY WILD.
As the stories take shape, the students will start getting their ideas down on paper or computer screen. This is the point when the students have to learn how to organize their brainstorming ideas, proofread and edit, and find ways to make their stories appealing and entertaining for readers. By the end of the class the students should have the fundamentals of their creations worked out into first drafts of fascinating new SCI-FI and fantasy tales. |

I'm mother of a boy with autism that had a birthday party at NESA this past weekend. I wanted to say that Matt and Joe were absolutely wonderful with the children and I was really impressed by the way they worked with the group. The children had a great time. THANK YOU.
